Background and Aim:Despite the increasing production and consumption of herbal medicines and products in Iran, the available scientific evidence regarding the consumption pattern of these products, especially among patients attending medical centers, remains limited. Considering the importance of identifying patients' consumption behaviors and their role in promoting evidence-based therapeutic approaches, the present study was conducted to investigate the consumption pattern and factors associated with the use of herbal products and traditional medicine in patients attending medical centers in Rasht, Iran, in 2024. Materials and Methods: The study population of this cross-sectional analytical study consisted of patients attending the public specialized and sub-specialized clinics of Razi and Besat hospitals in Rasht, Iran, in 2024. In this study, sampling was performed using a convenience method and a researcher-made checklist. Data were analyzed using SPSS software (version 16). The significance level was set at 0.05. Results:The results showed that 70.7% of the participants consumed herbal products in the form of herbal infusions. The most common method of obtaining these products was through herbalist shops (69.1%). Moreover, younger age, higher education level, living in urban areas, and having a greater number of chronic diseases were associated with increased use of herbal products. Furthermore, higher education level and cigarette smoking were associated with increased use of traditional medicine-related products. Conclusion: There is a need to formulate effective policies regarding herbal products and traditional medicine with the aim of achieving favorable treatment outcomes for patients and establishing health education programs to examine the benefits and risks of using these products.
