Background and Aim: The goal of this study was to design a quality assurance model based on the approach of fourth generation universities in Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences. Materials and Methods:We used aqualitative approach and grounded theory method. The statistical population was 12 experienced professors of Kurdistan University of Medical Sciences who were interviewed. A semi-structured interview was used to collect data, and the data obtained from the interviews were analyzed using a qualitative software (MAXQDA2020) in the form of open, central and selective codes. As a result of the qualitative data analysis, 377 open codes, 64 central codes and 15 selective codes were formed as the main dimensions and components of the quality assurance model based on the approach of the fourth generation universities. Results:The findings showed the "creative and problem-solving knowledge production" component as a phenomenon-oriented component, the "responsibility and interaction, transformational and dynamism, professional and facilitating structure" component as causal factors, the "growth-oriented culture, intelligent and adaptable structure, innovation and flexibility" component in the way of governance and improvement of human resources" as background conditions and the components of "academic independence, lack of clear and transparent structure" as intervening conditions, as well as the category of professional and up-to-date knowledge, creative and directional educational and curriculum, development of professional skills and competencies, progress of quality-based management were identified as interaction strategies and quality assurance actions with the approach of fourth generation universities. Conclusion: The main consequences of the interaction of all the mentioned components were "sustainable infrastructure development, cultural development, economic development, and development of the improvement of the quality of life", which in the fields of education, sustainable development of society and university, had fundamental roles in the progress and growth and quality of universities with the fourth generation approach.
