ABSTRACT
Background and Aim: The purpose of this research was to determine the obstacles and facilitators of COVID-19 vaccine uptake in Marivan and Sarveabad و highlighting various factors contributing to resistance.
Materials and Methods: Using the purposeful sampling method, there were 19 participants who refused to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Access to the participants and data collection were done through face-to-face and semi-structured interviews. Conventional qualitative content analysis was used to do the date analysis.
Results: Two main categories of "barriers" and "facilitators" and sixteen subclasses were extracted. Distrust in the effectiveness of the vaccine, health systems, government policies, rapid vaccine production in a short time, false beliefs, lack of belief in the seriousness of the Corona disease, and no need to receive the vaccine if health protocols are followed were the most important barriers to getting the COVID-19 vaccine. Perceived susceptibility, perceived severity of the Corona disease, knowledge about the vaccine, observing the positive effect of the Corona vaccine over time, and access to reliable information sources were among the facilitators of receiving the COVID-19 vaccine.
Conclusion: The results of this study can help increase demand and receive the vaccine for COVID-19. Strategies to persuade people should pay attention to effective measures to remove obstacles such as mistrust of vaccines, health systems, government policies, beliefs, and false beliefs about the Corona vaccine and unrelated information sources about the Corona vaccine. Health officials should strive to strengthen facilitators of vaccine uptake by using appropriate behavior change strategies and evidence-based responses. These facilitators include the perceived sensitivity and severity of the Corona disease, removing restrictions, raising awareness of the vaccine, observing the positive effects of the Corona vaccine, and accessing reliable information sources.
