Abstract
ABSTRACT Backgroun and Aim: Depression is a common psychiatric disorder which has a great impact on human life. Data published by scientific sources suggest that about one hundred million cases are diagnosed annually. Depression comprises about 35 to 45% of all mental disorders in Iran. Unfortunately, this figure is rising day by day and it is necessary to present new ways and modern methods for treatment and prevention of this psychiatric disorder. One of the non medicinal methods of treatment is music therapy which seems to be a safe and effective therapeutic method. Reading the Koran with a nice voice can be regarded as a kind of agreeable gnostic music. The main purpose of this research was to determine the effect of the Koran reciting on depression. Materials and Methods: This study was a semi-experimental one and included all the depressed patients who had been hospitalized in the psychiatry department of Rafsanjan Moradi center. The sampling time period was one year. The patients were divided into two groups randomly, (30 people in the experimental and 30 in the control group). The selection of the subjects were based on the psychiatrist`s diagnosis, Beck`s depression test and condition of the patients. The questionnaires were filled out for the case group. Recitation of Yousof Verse of the Koran by Abdolbaset, was transmitted for the case group, for 15 minutes every other day for 7 sessions. At the end of the first two weeks of hospitalization, both of the groups were retested by another questionnaire and the results were analyzed by paired t- test and T-students by EPI 6. Results: The result of this research showed that the Koran reciting had a beneficial effect on the depressed patients (p<0/0001). In our study the patients who expressed a strong belief in the Koran had greater differences in median depression scores before and after this kind of therapy. Conclusion: According to the results of this research and because of the rhythmic agreeable intonation of the Koran as a gnostic music and its miracle aspect, we can use the Koran tone as a non medicinal method of therapy in the treatment of depressed patients. Key words: The Koran reciting, Depression, Psychiatry ward Moradi hospital, Rafsanjan

Abstract
Background and Aim: Type 2 diabetic patients are at increased risk for the development of complications including cardiovascular, nephropathy and neuropathy. The increased risk is not fully explainable by factors such as dyslipidemia and hypertension. Therefore, oxidative stress has proposed as an alternative explanation although the underlying mechanism(s) is not clearly understood. The objective of the present study was to evaluate plasma prooxidant/antioxidant status in uncomplicated type 2 diabetic patients. An aged-matched group of non-diabetics was used as control group.
Materials and Methods: In this case-control study, 20 type 2 diabetic patients 7 males and 13 females (44.2±0.7 years) and 20 non-diabetic patients 12 males and 8 females (43.2±0.9 years) were entered into this study. Plasma malonedialdehyde, total glutathione, catalase and superoxide dismutase were dertermined spectrophotometrically and level of vitamin E was measured by HPLC. Statistical analyses were carried out by means of the SPSS-Win version 10 soft-ware package.
Results: The glutathione levels and vitamin E/triglyceride ratios in diabetic patients were lower than those of non diabetics (148.8±15.5 nmol/L vs 192.9±54.4 nmol/L p<0.05 and 14.4±1.6 mol/mmol vs 17.0±1.1 mol/mmol p<0.05 repsectively). Compared to control group, diabetic patients exhibited slightly higher levels of malonedialdehyde (196.1±10.7 nmol/L vs 175.2±20.4 nmol/L). Catalase content and superoxide dismutase revealed different activities in diabetic and control groups but the differences failed to show any statistical significance (571.9±65.3 g/L vs 541.1±67.4 g/L and 0.29±0.06 OD vs 0.26±0.01 OD, respectively).
Conclusion: This study revealed that plasma markers of oxidative stress, when compared with control group, were slightly altered in uncomplicated type 2 diabetic patients. These data provide additional support for the hypothesis that oxidative stress precedes the development of diabetic complications.

Abstract
ABSTRACT
Background and Aim: Nowadays, the effect of medicinal plants on the reduction of the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases and atherosclerosis has been confirmed. Liver phosphatidate phosphohydrolase (PAP) is a key regulatory enzyme in the glycerolipid metabolism. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of sesame oil on liver PAP activity, liver triglyceride, liver cholesterol and serum lipoprotein levels in hypercholesterolemic rabbits.
Material and Methods: In this experimental study 27 New Zealand rabbits were randomly assigned to 3 groups (n=9). Group1 (control) was fed with standard diet. Group II (hypercholesterolemic group) animals received hypercholesterolemic diet (1%) without treatment. Group III was fed with hypercholesterolemic diet (1%) plus sesame oil (5%). After two months, liver PAP activity, liver triglyceride and cholesterol content, serum lipoproteins and malondialdehyde, and antioxidant capacity were measured. One way ANOVA was used for analysis of the mean values of the variables and for pair-wise comparison of the groups we used Tukey’s test.
Results: Group III had a significant decrease (P< 0.05) in the liver PAP activity compared to group II. In group II, consumption of the enriched cholesterol diet led to a significant elevation (P< 0.05) in serum lipoproteins compared to group I (control). Also, sesame oil in group III decreased the serum lipoproteins, liver triglyceride, and liver cholesterol in comparison to group II (p<0.05). However, a significant elevation (P< 0.05) in serum antioxidant capacity and a significant reduction in malondialdehyde level occurred in group III compared to group II (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Sesame oil can be effective in reducing risk factors of cardiovascular diseases by decreasing serum lipids through making desirable alterations in serum lipoproteins. Also addition of sesame oil to hypercholesterolemic diets can reduce the liver PAP activity resulting in reduced liver triglyceride synthesis, which can decrease the risk of development of fatty liver in hypercholesterolemic diets.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Despite the availability of antipsychotic drugs, a large number of patients with schizophrenia do not show a good response to monotherapy with these drugs. In this study we evaluated the effect of purslane on psychologic symptoms and malondialdehyde (MDA) level in schizophrenic patients in Sina Hospital.
Materials and Methods: This randomized clinical trial study was carried out on 60 chronic schizophrenic patients treated with risperidone in Sina Hospital in Joneghan, Iran between 2011 and 2012. Patients were randomly divided into intervention and control groups. The control group received risperidone 6mg/day and biperiden 4mg/day for 8 weeks. The Patients in the intervention group received 1g extract of purslane daily in addition to risperidone and biperiden for 8 weeks. The scales for assessment of positive symptoms (SAPS), assessment of negative symptoms (SANS) and MDA level were recorded at the baseline and at the end of the 8th week of study. Data analysis was performed by using mean, SD, student t-test and paired t- test.
Results: At the end of the study, the respective mean scores of positive symptoms were 47.93±18.56 in the intervention and 57.1±14.83 in the control group (P<0.05), and the mean scores of negative symptoms were 40.83±11.03 in the intervention and 46.13± 9.34 in the control group (P<0.05).In addition, the MDA levels of the patients in the intervention and control groups were 3.25±1.25 and 5.43± 1.76 respectively (P<0.05).
Conclusion: According to findings of this study, simultaneous use of purslane and respridone can lead to improvement of psychological condition and decreased MDA level in the patients with chronic schizophrenia.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Nowadays, the tissue-engineered products have shown promising effect in the treatment of different skin-related damages such as wounds and deep burns. The nature of the surfaces of these substitutes plays a key role in the interaction between tissue and biomaterials. Before biomedical applications, modification of the surface of these materials is important.
Material and Methods: In this study, acrylic acid in different concentrations were grafted on silicone (after activating the surface of silicone film by two step plasma method). Then, chitosan and gelatin at different concentrations were immobilized on the samples. Then, surface characterization and properties were evaluated by ATR-FTIR and contact angle (sessile drop method). Finally, we evaluated cell attachment, cell spreading and the number of L929 cells.
Result: The results showed that the amount of grafted acrylic acid on silicone film was significantly influenced by acrylic acid monomer concentrations. Also the presence of the graft was verified by ATR-FTIR. The results also demonstrated that increased concentrations of acrylic acid and chitosan led to increased rate of surface hydrophilia. Cell attachment, spreading, and cell number onto silicone films treated by immobilization of chitosan and gelatin, were more in comparison to other samples.
Conclusion: Due to its high biocompatibility, the tissue-engineered skin product can be used as a skin replacement in various skin wounds and burns.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in Iran and around the world. It has been recognized as the most significant cause of cancer deaths in developing countries such as Iran. Considering the necessity of accurate and timely diagnosis of this disease, the aim of this research was to design and validate an information management software for the treatment of breast cancer.
Materials and Methods: After reviewing related medical studies and reviewing similar softwares, basic information was collected, classified and processed. In the next step, the initial patterns were designed and the final design of the software was selected from data base applications. Infopath program (a subset of Microsoft Office) was our final choice. After preliminary design, the diagnostic and therapeutic steps of breast cancer were determined on the basis of the existing protocols and the necessary information extracted from Schwartz's Principles of Surgery, was entered into the software. After the preliminary tests, validation steps, adjustment, distribution and analysis of the questionnaire were performed.
Results: Based on the responses recorded by the participants, the majority of the participants (52% with 91.23%) believed that "Breast Cancer Management Software" was a suitable software for management of patient information. 54 (94.74%) participants stated that they were confident of having access to the correct information by using the software and 55 (96.49%) believed that the "Breast Cancer Management Software" can be used as an educational aid.
Conclusion: Apparently, artificial intelligence and computers cannot take the place of physicians. However, they have the potential to help physicians in order to make faster and more precise diagnosis. Moreover, use of artificial intelligence can result in decreased human errors during times of fatigue and stress. The Breast Cancer Management Software can be used as an aid in medical education and information management and ultimately in the management and treatment of breast cancer.

Abstract
Introduction:
Discharge against Medical Advice (DAM) is a process during which the patient leaves the hospital without completing the course of treatment and with the consent of the doctor. This study investigated the frequency and causes of discharge against medical advice and its related factors in Ghods Psychiatric Hospital in Sanandaj during 2017.
Method:
This is a descriptive-analytical study. The study population was all patients admitted to Qhods Hospital during 2017. Demographic and hospital related information and reasons for discharge were collected and completed with a pre-designed checklist. Finally, the data were statistically analyzed using SPSS software version 20 and Chi-square test.
Results:
The rate of discharge against Medical Advice was 5.7%, 69.3% of the subjects were male, 55.3% were married, 51.5% were in the age range of 27 to 52 years,. 77.2% of hospitalizations were emergency, 63.4% of hospitalizations were the first time and mainly on holidays , evening and night shifts.
Sex didn’t have a significant relation with the type of discharge(p=0.538). Day and shift of hospitalization(p=0.001), (p=0.002), age(p=0.001), number of previous hospitalizations(p=0.0001)., ward(p=0.0001).and marital status(p=0.022). had a significant relation with the type of discharge.
Personal couses(80.2%) was the main reason for discharge and the patientchr('39')s insistence (36.6%) was the most personal reason for discharge against medical advice. The most discharge occur in first 10 day of admition.
Conclusion:
In general, the rate of discharge against medical advice in Qhods Psychiatric Hospital is lower than other similar psychiatric and non-psychiatric studies in Iran, but higher than the global statistics. The patientchr('39')s insistence was the main reason for discharge and The most discharge occur in first 10 day of admition .According to this results, it seems that more focus on patient education during hospitalization, especially in the first days plays a major role in reducing discharge against medical advice and consequently reduce the complications in health care system.
